Missions Trip
Mission Trip 2023
Kelly, Zoe and I traveled to Leon, Nicaragua September 19 to 25. The purpose of this trip was to finally help purchase a new vehicle for Pastor Guido. We’ve been waiting to fill this need for a number of years and now had the funding and had done the research to make us feel comfortable in proceeding with accomplishing this goal. Ever since I first met Pastor Guido in 2009 he’s been driving a 1988 Isuzu pickup truck that had now accumulated over 600,000 miles. We all had to face the fact that though it lived a good life…it was coming to an end. Guido was somewhat reluctant to part with the little truck but realized he had no choice. We were able to find a late model Toyota diesel powered 15 passenger van. The Guidos were delighted that it included a/c. With this new tool Pastor Guido will continue to serve his people and community. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Milagro Initiative over the past years. May God richly bless you for your generosity!

Nov 11-18, 2017 Mission Trip
2017 Mission Trip!!!
” You start to recognize that there are people in this world who go without some of things you might take for granted every day – solid education, job opportunities, support system, consistent care, food in the fridge, a fridge, a home, daily encouragement… For the first time you might realize that those things are not part of everyone’s story. And that’s one of the reasons mission trips can be so meaningful – because you get out of your everyday context and begin to better understand others. And a common, reaction to this new understanding is gratitude for the good things in life. “
Milagro Initiative would like to thank every member of the team for the magnificent work. Our 2017 team consisted of (from back left) Michael Bell, Paul Eugene Weber, Jay Polansky, Phil Garber, Valerie Reinhart, Danita Neiss, Tim Good, Kelly Coelho and Cyndi Garber.

Our Next Mission Trip – Nov 7-14, 2015
The Milagro Initiative selectively supports the inspired youth
by assisting in their educational needs, so they can solve
their family’s poverty dilemma.
NEW DATES FOR NEXT TRIP! NOVEMBER 7 – 14, 2015
Anyone who has an adventurous spirit and a desire to serve God by serving His people in Nicaragua is welcome to join us. We usually take 5 to 12 people. Even though we will be helping with the construction of a building, experience is not required. We also reach out in other ways like attending the local church, mingling with people on the job site, and simply being open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. And it’s just plain down fun to experience the local culture! Deadline for registration will be September 23rd. Oh…and you will need a current passport of course! You can contact Tim Good for more information.

I’d been thinking for some time about going on a missions trip. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of the 2013 team that went to Nicaragua.I was blessed to see the overwhelming appreciation from the Nicaraguan people that we built houses for. It was rewarding to see them give thanks to God for their new home. I also enjoyed getting to know the team members as I worked along side them.
This was great for my first missions trip, and leaving my comfort zone. If anyone is considering serving on a missions trip, I would highly recommend joining this team to Nicaragua.
Our Next Mission Trip – Nov 8-15, 2014

We have changed the dates and scope of our next trip! The team is now leaving on November 8 and returning on November 15, 2014. Also, The Milagro Initiative decided to finance the construction of the school building (which is being built now) so that the team can continue to build housing for families in November. The homes will be built in the rural region between the city of Leon and the Pacific Ocean.

It was my first time outside of the United States, and it was the most rewarding experience I ever had. I wouldn’t even think twice before leaving for Nicaragua again. God worked so much in my heart while I was there, and even more afterwards. It was great getting to know five wonderful men of God, and seeing them work their butts off in the heat of the day. I loved seeing the faces on the people who lived in the houses that the men built. Many of the locals even pitched in and helped us! It was amazing to see! My favorite part though, were the lovely children! Oh my gosh, I fell in love with them even before I met them. I could spend the whole afternoon playing with them and goofing off, even though we didn’t understand each other! I was so saddened inside everytime I had to say goodbye to those sweet darlings. I miss them even to this day. God has shown me so much through this one adventure that I had, and I literally can not wait until my next visit to the wonderful country of Nicaragua!
